Welcome to the latest instalment of our Get to Know Me Series, where you can get closer to the people who make up our NHS Supply Chain: Facilities and Office Solution team. This time, we're excited to introduce Alexandra Smith, our new Business Performance Specialist.

1. What is your role within NHS Supply Chain?

My role is Business Performance Specialist and I sit within the Governance, Performance and Sustainability Team (GPS), under the CMSP Contract. This is my second role within the NHS after coming from Nottinghamshire Healthcare Foundation Trust in the corporate performance team where I focussed on Community and Offender Health services. I can see myself having a long career in the NHS as I am very passionate about patient care and service users, and how every part we play in our NHS roles having an impact on this.

2. What does your job involve?
My primary responsibility of this role is to manage business performance by tracking and analysing client cyclical reports, identifying anomalies, areas for improvement and issues that require further discussion. In my role I will be looking to identify opportunities for improvement and ways I can collaborate with procurement, customer specialists, and the wider team.

3. What do you enjoy most about your role?
As I embark on my fifth week here I have really enjoyed meeting the team, who have all been so welcoming and friendly, certainly making the transition into a new organisation and role much easier! I love learning new skills and gaining new insights, and I’m excited about how this role will challenge me, enabling me to make a positive impact. I am eager to apply my expertise in a dynamic environment and contribute to the continued successes of the team.

As the GPS team is relatively new and evolving, I am excited at the prospect of seeking out new opportunities. I look forward to promoting our team's goals and broadening strong performance and governance across the team.
