Welcome to the latest in our Get to Know Me Series. We are sharing a snapshot of new people who have joined NHS Supply Chain: Facilities and Office Solutions and what drew them to share their knowledge and skills with the NHS.

Now let's get to know Emma Morten.

1. What is your role within NHS Supply Chain?

My job title is Business Performance Specialist, working as part of the Governance, Performance and Sustainability (GPS) team within NHS Supply Chain: Facilities and Office Solutions. I have worked in the NHS for 15 years, most recently for Chesterfield Royal Hospital as their Senior Contracts Manager for Estates and Facilities, managing all aspects of their 96 operational contracts, including their nine Royal Primary Care satellite GP sites. One of my proudest moments was being awarded outstanding status by the CQC for the provisions I led in Estates and Facilities across the sites. Prior to this I spent 11 years at Derbyshire Community Health Services as their Contracts Manager, again within the Estates and Facilities provision.

2. What does your job involve?

I work directly alongside the Head of Performance and Governance to ensure we fulfil our responsibilities within the client contract and exceed expectations in the continuous development of rigorous governance and infrastructure, by tracking and analysing client cyclical reports, identifying any anomalies, areas for improvement and issues requiring further investigation on behalf of the Facilities and Office Solutions function. The diversity of the GPS team has enabled me to get involved in our social value commitments, reporting and sustainability practices, which are two areas of focus I feel very passionate about.

3. What do you enjoy most about your role?

Embarking on an uncharted adventure was daunting at first, but it quickly became apparent I was part of a well-supported, dedicated, friendly and committed team who all looked out for each other and wanted the best for the organisation. The GPS team is a new and evolving team, which is an exciting prospect, where I can apply my knowledge and experience to help shape the team to enhance our profile, promote our goals and continually support the accomplishment of the CMSP business objectives and KPIs.

Sometimes people view performance management as an obstacle in their day-to-day activity, but it’s not, it’s there to ensure we always meet the expectations of our customer, and I thrive on customer satisfaction. It’s a set of tools that enables our team to manage, track and monitor the delivery of services provided to SCCL under the CMSP contract to make sure all business obligations and KPI’s outlined in the contract are met. I love being part of a high-performing team, helping to drive motivation, productivity and profitability across all divisions and can’t wait to watch our team flourish in 2024.
