Supply Chain Coordination Limited (SCCL) have recently announce that on Sunday 24 February 2019, Unipart Logistics became responsible for delivering the logistics service for NHS Supply Chain as NHS Supply Chain: Logistics.

The Announcement

With the new provider now fully operational, all critical elements of the new operating model for NHS Supply Chain are now in place to support the delivery of safe, fit for purpose, value for money products to the NHS. This will enable our ambition to realise savings of £ 2.4bn for the NHS by 2022/23.

Unipart Logistics are part of the Unipart Group, one of Britain’s largest employee owned companies. They bring experience of highly sophisticated supply chain environments which they utilise across a range of sectors including health. They also bring with them a strong track record of helping NHS organisations succeed.

NHS Supply Chain: Logistics manages all aspects of the logistics service from inventory management to the delivery of every day consumables and high value healthcare products to providers. In its role as the provider for NHS Supply Chain: Logistics, Unipart Logistics will also provide the Home Delivery Service (HDS) to private individuals’ and care homes in partnership with Movianto - a company which offers dedicated and networked transport services within the healthcare sector.

NHS Supply Chain HDS customers have been advised that all components of their service will remain the same including their contact points.

Unipart Logistics will aim to build on and, in the longer term, continuously improve the service and systems DHL developed for NHS Supply Chain in the preceding 12 years.

Jin Sahota, CEO of NHS Supply Chain said, ‘I would like to extend huge thanks to DHL for all that they have achieved for NHS Supply Chain during more than a decade at the helm. I am pleased that they will continue to contribute to the NHS, not least as category tower suppliers.

Being part of the new NHS Supply Chain represents an excellent opportunity for Unipart Logistics to make a difference to the NHS, helping us to deliver on our ambitious savings and efficiency targets for the next few years. It is exciting for us to have Unipart’s extensive expertise on board’.

Frank Burns, MD of Unipart Logistics stated ‘It has been a long-held strategy for Unipart Group to contribute to the NHS on a national scale and being part of NHS Supply Chain provides this opportunity. We look forward to building on the existing strengths of the organisation and introducing further improvements and innovations by applying ‘The Unipart Way’ with a ‘whole supply chain view’ to help achieve NHS Supply Chain’s priorities.

We will bring to bear our group philosophy of understanding the real and perceived needs of our customers, serving them better than anyone else and through working
in partnership with suppliers.
