NOE CPC at HCSA Women's Network Event
On 25 May 2023, HCSA hosted its inaugural HCSA Women’s Network event in London to support and champion women working in NHS Procurement and Supply Chain.
The mantra for the HCSA Women’s Network revolves around empowering change, connectivity, inclusion, opportunity, and diversity. Each one of these cornerstones was brought to life at the event through an array of vibrant and powerful guest speakers. Imposter syndrome and internal confidence was a common theme throughout the sessions as well as a panel discussion where colleagues told stories of their career journeys and reflected on the current issues colleagues face within the workplace.
Women and allies across public sector procurement attended the conference and were able to celebrate and champion themselves.
Our colleagues across NOE CPC and NHS Supply Chain: Hotel Services attended the event and took the opportunity to build relationships, hear from a range of keynote speakers in the world of procurement and gain further understanding of common challenges. Here’s what they had to say about the event:
Joanne Barton, Senior Category Manager for HR & People: “I recently attended the first ever HCSA Women’s Network event in London and have to say it felt like we were part of something special. I came away feeling inspired and felt empowered to make some personal changes. The sessions challenged my current thinking and I felt encouraged to step outside of the constraints I had been putting on myself. One of the best events I have ever been to, and I can’t wait to see how the network develops going forward.”
Sarah Good, Procurement Support Officer: “The HCSA Women’s Conference was interesting, Dr Sam Collins's speech was amazing. I took some great information away from the day.”
Leah Parker, Customer Support and Assistant Buyer: “After attending HCSA on the 25th May for the first time, I was impressed from start to finish. The motivational speakers grabbed my attention from the offset, and I enjoyed listening to their relatable experiences. The day ran smoothly, and each speaker engaged with the audience. I thoroughly enjoyed the day and would attend again.”
Michelle Walker, Senior Category Manager for Healthcare and Pharmacy: “The HCSA Women’s Conference was not only a fantastic opportunity to catch up and network with colleagues across NHS procurement, but it also gave a much-needed voice to women within the profession. To hear speeches about our influence, our capacity to lead and create change, and the strides we are making toward a supportive, inclusive career was inspirational and empowering. I was in two minds originally about the purpose and rationale for the event, but after attending, bring on HCSA Women’s Conference 2024!”
HCSA Women’s Network is challenging the norm and endeavouring to build a platform to help bring about the change required to overcome issues such as unconscious bias, the gender pay gap, and stereotypes.
