#Talent Matters: Recruiting and training future procurement professionals
NOE CPC is proud to be a sponsor of P4H England. As well as exhibiting in the NHS Commercial and Procurement Pavilion, members of our team will also be presenting at the event at the NEC in Birmingham on 18th September.
Our focus for September is #TalentMatters, as an organisation NOE CPC is committed to helping our staff access training and development to support them in their careers and wellbeing. The NHS procurement landscape is ever changing and it’s vitally important we are at the forefront of this change, and this includes developing the next generation of procurement professionals.
NOE CPC’s Head of Training and Events Caroline Brash will be presenting in the People and Skills Zone at P4H with Procurement Support Officer Olivia Humphrey and Graduate Trainee Riley Gibson to share their experiences of the NHS Procurement Graduate Training Scheme, Pathways 2 Procurement, which is run by the Yorkshire and Humber Skills Development Network, now with support from the Health Care Supply Association (HCSA) and NHS England (NHSE). Further details of the scheme may be found here: Pathways 2 NHS Procurement
The graduate scheme is a highly focused development pathway for graduates to become the next NHS Procurement middle managers and beyond.
The scheme is a ‘grow your own model’ to recruit bright graduates and develop technical specialists for your organisation, with career development from day one with experience in different roles within Procurement, e.g. buying and tendering, contract management, materials management, and inventory control.
Caroline said: “Recruiting and training staff is a challenge faced by the whole NHS, and procurement is an area that is not widely discussed in terms of career options within healthcare.
“Attracting the next generation of procurement professionals is something we as an organisation are very keen to support, and we are happy to be working with the NHS Procurement Graduate Training Scheme to support new graduates through their training and give them a rounded experience of all areas of NHS procurement, from operations to category specialism, processes and learning from the experiences of colleagues.”
