There have been a number of significant updates from across the health technology landscape recently. Our Senior Category Manager for Technology (ICT) Alison Petrie has shared a summary of these key points with links for further information.

NHS Data Strategy

Following the Autumn 2020 NHSX workshops with representatives across the health and social care system, the much anticipated NHS Data Strategy was published on the 22nd June which includes new requirements for data sharing across the entire health and care system with new legislation to be introduced to require all adult social care providers to provide information about the services they fund. The NHSX draft strategy ‘Data Saves Lives: Reshaping health and social care with data’, aims to capitalise on the work undertaken using data during the pandemic to improve health and care services.

The public now have until Thursday 22 July to engage through a range of channels before a final version is published. Up to date opportunities will be published on the NHSX website. Case studies and testimonials to support the draft data strategy can be found on the NHSX website.

NHS Funding - fresh investment to digitally transform hospitals

NHSX is funding 32 trusts through the Digital Aspirant programme – designed to help frontline organisations build the digital skills to deliver healthcare that is safe, efficient and fit for 21st century needs. Seven trusts will receive up to £6m over three years to help deliver their digital ambitions – whilst a further 25 trusts will receive seed funding of £250,000 to develop their digital strategy and business cases.

The Digital Aspirant programme supports organisations to deliver a set of core capabilities and is designed to reduce the gap between the levels of digitisation across the NHS. See our Digital Aspirants page for a full list of NHS trusts receiving funding.

Microsoft Free Virtual Training Days

Microsoft are hosting several free virtual training days throughout July covering topics such as security, compliance, collaboration and productivity which may be of interest to IT colleagues across the NHS. Other free training is available on the topics of Azure, Power Platform, Microsoft 36 Dynamics and Microsoft Security.
